From Port to Dock and Beyond
River Tees Rediscovered is helping to launch Discover Middlesbrough with a free guided walk taking a closer look at the riverside history of the town with local historian Martin Peagam.
Martin brings the voices of the past to life and celebrates the birth of Middlesbrough as an industrial powerhouse with the River Tees playing a pivotal role..
Walkers will discover how a Quaker transformed a swamp in to a busy port, learn of the challenges faced by Victorian engineers and hear about the not so friendly welcome given to contractors building the dock.

Booking is essential on 01642 616144 or email Christine.corbett@groundwork.org.uk; children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
