Plenty to look forward to in May!

May brings the Tour de Yorkshire to Middlesbrough. And May also means Local History Month.

There are some great events and activities lined up - and the Time Traveller will be delivering some of them. In association with Acklam Hall Ltd we will be launching Local History Month at Acklam Hall on the evening of Tuesday 3 May 2016 - where I will deliver an illustrated talk about the Hall.

Then on Monday 16 May I will use my Time Machine to take people on a tour of the Empire Palace of Varieties Theatre - exploring the history of the building and the people who have performed there over the past 100 years.

And finally on Wednesday 25 May, at Teesside Archives, I will explore the story of Rugby in Teesside - how rugby arrived in the area in the nineteenth century, how it was much bigger than football in popularity and how it lost out to the round ball game, with plenty of fascinating anecdotes along the way!

For full details of what is on offer during Local History Month, look out for the brochures or visit https://issuu.com/lovemiddlesbrough/docs/lhm_may_2016

As if that was not enough I will be leading a group on a tour of Yarm as well - exploring the story of the beautiful North Yorkshire town and the characters and events that have shaped its history.
