The Empire Theatre opened its doors on 13 March 1899 and has been providing entertainment for the people of Middlesbrough ever since. I will lead a tour of the theatre in which I will explore the history of this beautiful building and some of the famous names who have graced the stage over the past century. Designed by the famous architect Ernest Runtz the building was opened with great ceremony – no less than 17 acts performed on the opening night - and in the years since some of the greatest artistes in the history of entertainment have performed at the Empire. Booking details in the Middlesbrough LHM Brochure. I do hope that I will see you at one or more of these events. Warm regards Martin Peagam - The Time Traveller
